What books would you recommend on the War of the Roses/The English Civil War.

Younger son when asked what books he wanted for Christmas asked for non-fiction books on those subjects. What books out there would you recommend that are likely to be able to get.

The Wars of the Roses by Dan Jones is a good one-volume history. Really well written

Dan Jones is good. My main qualm is that he is practically on the verge of plagiarism with some of his books. For example, in his book on the Plantagenets for the chapters on Richard II he lifts a bunch of his phrases and ideas from Nigel Saul's Richard II. But at the same time, that can also be a boon because he is lifting lines from fairly reliable historians and offered you a condensed version of their longer explorations of certain events.
