What are the most likely states to exist in a DBWI

The other thread made me thinking. Since we're discussing the least likely states to exist in a DBWI, why don't we also discuss which states are most likely to exist.

Some sort of Chinese state.

Some sort of Japanese state seems reasonably likely as well, but a bit less sure than that there'd be a China.

Otherwise, I suppose islands of sufficient size and reasonably good climate have a reasonably good chance at independence in pretty much any TL.

Thinking of states different from OTL that seem to turn up quite often, in no particular order:

a) Deserte.
b) Confederacy.
c) Russian Alaska.
d) surviving Carthaginian empire.
e) surviving Granadian state.
f) surviving Byzantium.
g) surviving Burgundy.

- I'm taking the question as being the ones that are most likely to turn up in a DBWI as compared to which ones that turn up I consider most likely to actually be possible.

Duh - most of those may not be appropriate as this is the post 1900 thread?

DBWI after 1900.

Great Britain, Germany, France i.e most european nations with a numerous ethnic population will survive in one form or another and the same goes for N.America.

Are we talking most likely states that don't exist IOTL, or including those that exist IOTL? If the former, I have to agree with the CSA and Quebec. If the latter, well, most of them. There tends to be something roughly France-like in almost every DBWI. Aside from Quebec and sometimes Newfoundland and/or the Maritimes, Canada is usually roughly the same. China, Japan, Australia and New Zealand (except in surviving British Empire scenarios), some sort of Mexico, generally a Brazil...
