hey, all. i've had it in the specs of my ASB ATL for a while that nuclear weapons aren't developed when they are because World War II and the subsequent Cold War do not take place. as i currently have it written, the first nuclear reactor is built in Stockholm in 1965 but the first nuclear detonation is in 1991 as a test (with a Chernobyl-like meltdown inbetween). but i'm starting to think i set the first nuke detonation too late in the TL, so i thought i'd open upon a query to find out what everyone else thinks.
so, simply put, without World War II, when would nuclear weapons be developed? keep in mind that other conflicts still take place before, during, and after this period, just not on such a huge scale.
