Western Superstate

Anyway you could have a Superstate containing western europe, Usa , canada ,Austrilia and new zealand come into existence

How powerful would such a state be

Easiest way is that you turn UK, Canada, Australia and New Zealand and perhaps South Africa as one Imperial Federation. But I am not sure how plausible this is. But I don't see USA joining there.

In terms of power projection, wouldn't the western super-state be as powerful as a fully cooperative NATO? If you stick to late 1980s levels of funding, or 1990s hegemony relative to the rest of the world, NATO's reach/power would seem pretty similar. I guess Australia and New Zealand are not involved, but they're both strong US allies.

Maybe America could create it after WWII as a parallel to the European Coal and Steel Community, before ECSC is implemented. Then just have it evolve, perhaps admiting Russia post USSR to help balance out the US. By the present have the Western Union instead of EU, but with a centralized military and several other things that go beyond the EU. Maybe parts of Latin America join when they still have small populations and seem more workable.

Wrong part of the forum, IMHO. You have to start with the English entirely subjugating what is now France in the 100 Years' War.

Perhaps the Anglo-French union idea is realised? Gives more incentive to turning both Empires into a Federated Union.
However still makes USA unlikely to join.

What if there was no Sino-Soviet Split? Supposing that the PRC remains allied to the Soviets, maybe pulling in India and parts of Southeast Asia (might be wrong, but I heard that India was somewhat friendly with the USSR at one point so maybe with a communist revolution they could be pushed over the edge), then you'd get a military/political alliance that covers most of Asia and contains somewhere between 1/3 and 1/2 of the world's population. In the face of this juggernaut, there might be a bigger impetus to unite the West in the face of communism.
