West Poland Salient post-WWII

I'm going to go out on a limb here into something that may be unworkable, but I think it would make a great scenario for an ATL Cold War.

Say the WAllies take Germany and push all the way into Poland by the end of WWII. The Polish government in exile sets up shop in the liberated chunk of West Poland and is allied with the US/UK.

Germany is partitioned as OTL, so now you have a Western-allied salient in West Poland. Basically a massive West Berlin situation.

Possible? The Soviets would have to be significantly delayed in the North, so maybe Leningrad falls and this triggers a 1943 D-Day?

If the Western Allies get that far east and are willing to defy the USSR by creating a West Poland, why would they agree to the partition of Germany?

Would eastern Germany still be ethnically cleanseby the Soviets like OTL? Probably not, as it would basicly be giving it up to a hostile Poland. That would mean a pretty different Poland. Would the Soviets even create their own Poland or simply annex it all, kind of creating a Polish SSR.

The WAllies have to be doing really, really good to be pushing onwards to Poland, since any post-war Germany they make would including most all the Weimar Republic's borders in Silesia and Pomerania.

Western allies had no problem with moving Poland west.
Maybe (although Germany did claim its eastern borders for decades), but I am not so sure they would be willing to actualy comit warcrimes on the Germans and ethnically cleanse the eastern territories, like the Soviets did. That would mean a large German minority within Poland.

They might let Poles to do the dirty work and keep their own hands clean. Poland's government in exile's claims were much smaller than what happened in otl too. Anyway I don't believe in partition of Poland scenario unless Allies and Soviets remain defacto enemies throughout the war and the former are somehow too weak to one way or another evict Soviets from Polish lands at least in the west from Curzon line.

I want to revisit this idea. I think this is a good time to keep talking about this idea give. All the WWIII threads on the board right now.

What kind of a POD could make the WAllies and USSR more hostile towards each other? I know Churchill saw the Soviets as future adversaries, but he had no trouble working with Stalin against Hitler.

I was also thinking about another possibility for a Polish enclave. The WAllies take Berlin and Germany surrenders while the Soviets are still in Eastern Poland. Western Poland is unoccupied by either side. The Polish Home Army sets up a de-facto government in the unoccupied area, and the WAllies recognize it as the legitimate Polish government
