We'll Keep The Red Flag Flying Here

SO! Lets do a run over first on what I am planning here. As I still have nightmares of the five or Six pages of people attaching the TL "The Iron Continent", because I guess General Eisenhower is the human incarnation of Aries I guess and is there for an inflatable military God of some kind.

So I am moving my POD back further than a simple loss of D-Day.

Two major POD's in fact, to cripple the greatest of the western allied powers. And of course it's death. Cause death's have a great way of changing everything. Anyhow, August 10th, 1921 Franklin Delano Roosevelt was sailing in the Bay of Fundy with his three Eldest Children when a fire started on their ship. In this Time Line, they could not put the fire out in time leading to the sinking of the Yacht, all four lives were sadly lost. Through this there is never a New Deal in the USA, and America simply continues down the path of accepted political logic at the time. (And now really). That austerity was the path back to prosperity for the nation. Leading to a longer, deeper, and worse depression for the United States and by extension Canada and Mexico. America becomes far more Isolationist during the second world war, but does do what it can selling arms to the British Empire, and later the USSR. Do to the weak state of the USA Japan never comes to see America as a threat, or a "slumbering giant' that may try to stop their expansion in Asia, some referring to the USA as "The Sick Man of the Americas". Rather more and more Japanese attention is being drawn onto the USSR who (as we will see) is coming out on top in the European War.

The second death occurs in 1931 when Winston Churchill is hit and killed by a Taxi cab. Where this effect isn't to great on Britain until the outbreak of the War eight years later. As I've seen many times before Lord Halifax is made PM after Neville Chamberlain steps down. The United Kingdom, and British Empire have a much harder time holding out against Nazi Germany but will still manage to do it. Though at a far greater toll on the home Island and the Royal Navy.

Of course, for the purpose of this TL the Nazis will still lose. It will be a harder, bloodier fight on the eastern front. But it will be won under the Iron Fisted leadership of Comrade Stalin.

The story will kick off in 1946 with the Red Army marching onto Nazi occupied Paris. The Nazis or what is left of them, are in falling apart. Spain the United Kingdom and the Empire have no choice but to look on the steamroller crushing everything in it's path in Europe. The United States is sinking deeper into depression as the European war falls into it's final stages. Both Fascists and Communists in the USA becoming more and more aggressive as the old ways prove less viable. Canada starts to see itself as the centre of the Empire, as Britain lays mostly in ruins. The European colonies in the middle east are in revolt.

Any thoughts or ideas anyone my have on how I can approach this are welcome to share. I'll be giving it my best effort, but as with much of my work, this is all just for fun.

This is silly nitpicking, but Ares (no "I") had nothing to do with strategy but was a personification of the violence of war more than anything else. You're thinking of Athena or Nike (not the shoes.)

Does Britain never develop Tube Alloys, or does it take so much longer without American cooperation that it's irrelevant for a 1946 timeframe?
