Weird thought- reinforcing Dunkirk

This is probably wholly impossible but WI Churchill had decided to find ways of holding on in North Western France.

It has been noted that naval artilery is actually quite effective against shore based forces and the Royal Navy was huge.

Could enough supplies have been sent to allow a bridgehead at least to hold out for long enough to give France a chance of fighting effectively?

I am not an military expert and I imagine there were huge barriers. Still I wonder.

It also occurs to me that this might be the kind of thing Churchill might have tried.

Wouldn't the ships have been hideously vulnerable to air attack? IIRC the Germans had local air superiority.

Also, I don't think that Britain had another army sitting around waiting to be sent into action at that time.
