Weekly Flag Challenge: Discussion & Entries

Tomorow already! But I'm very very busy at the moment with other things, so could someone else please start the voting thread? That'd be very kind!
As I noticed that I should leave out the Finnish and Lapland flag for the entry, could someone who starts the poll cut that out of my entry?

In my alternate history world, Kola is completely indpendent, so "officially Republic of Finland" doesn't really make a lot of sense, but - anyway - I don't mind, it's no problem at all...

Oh. I thought of it somewhat as Taiwan, it being a remnant of a previous nationalist government relegated to a small territory after a civil war.

Just an idea, maybe next challenge we can pick a standard size for all entries. Just make them easier to look at and compare.

Incidently, good turnout this turn.

A good idea. It would need to be adjusted for multiple-flag contests, to allow for both the additional flags, and some room for labels.

Yes indeed. Great idea, because now it gets quite difficult to make a choice because all flags are different in size. Also, we could agree upon using all the same "image link maker", for instance imgur.com. That'd make things easier too.
Besides we could for instance give to standard sizes; one for challenges with only one flag, and another (smaller one) for challenges where you're supposed to make multiple flags.

(shifting these to the Discussion Thread)

I agree that a standard for single and multiple flag entries would be useful.
In the past I used to resize flags when posting polls to allow ease of comparison.
I disagree with having a standard "image link maker" since copying the image does that for us. Since that issue crops up in multiple flag entries then simply having all flags on one single image will help.

Thus I propose: single flag entries to be a maximum 800pixels on their longest edge, multiple flag entries to contain flags of maximum 300pixels on their longest edge.

Any seconds or modifications?

I'd much rather limit height than anything else in terms of forum display, in that a universal flag height allows for everyone to take up the same amount of effective space in an entry, given that width typically isn't an issue.

I'd suggest 300-400 px high for single flags and perhaps 150 or 100 for multi-flag entries.

I suggest a height limit of 300 px for single entries, and 150 px for multiple entries. They allow for the ratios of 1:1, 2:3, 3:5 and 5:8, and they're easy to remember.

As an example, here's the flag of the UK with a height of 300 pixels:

And here's the same at 150 pixels:
