Given the recent release of Skyfall and its good reviews as well as the large return to the 'classic' Bond formula (still with a smidgeon of Bourne, but its still better than Die Another Day), I thought it would be a good idea to do a collaborative Bond timeline. How will it work? Basically, each poster will give a quick summary of a Bond film following on from the last one in an alternative 'official' series akin to EON's. You get the choice of Bond, storyline, title, whether its based on a book or not, and director, etc

I'll start off...

MOONRAKER (1965)
Producers:

Albert Broccoli and Harry Saltzman
Starring:
Roger Moore as James Bond
Bernard Lee as M
Desmond Llewelyn as Quartermaster
Peter Sellers as Sir Hugo Drax
Director:
Terence Young
Music:
Monty Norman
Plot:
Mysterious playboy eccentric Hugo Drax is the darling of Europe's gentlemen elite and a national hero but has been kept under close watch by MI6 due to alleged links with arms-trading and the Soviets. Follow James Bond as he delves deeper into the background of Drax, an amnesiac who worked his way up only to discover his links to the Soviets are more than superficial... but matters are worse when the most expensive warhead of all time made by Drax's company for Britain goes missing. Where is the Moonraker... and what is it pointing at?
Based Upon:
Moonraker by Ian Fleming
Studio:
EON Productions
Distributed by:
Rank Organisation
Budget:
$2 million

Production:
Ian Fleming sold the rights to Moonraker to the Rank Organisation for £10,000 but they never put it into production - Fleming doesn't buy the rights back but instead sells the remainder to Harry Saltzman who forms a partnership with Cubby Broccoli. The pair search for a company to finance their first film and discover Rank hold the rights to Moonraker, an agreement is reached so long as Moonraker is the first film put into production. The pair are given a somewhat modest budget of $2million and pick Roger Moore, the star of ITC's the Saint as their Bond. Working to a tight budget, the first car is the Triumph Spitfire after Bentley refuse to put up a car for the filming. The film becomes an enormous success with the title theme by Monty Norman and the 'gun barrel' sequence becoming part of pop culture and cinema history as well as buoying both Rank's ailing film division and the British motor industry with the mass-market Spitfire. Broccoli and Saltzman are immediately given funding for the next film.
