He might be able to delay the implosion of the Federalists by a term or two if he exacts control over the writings of the top dogs. While he probably would have supported the Alien and Sedition Acts, I think Washington had enough political savvy to know that it would be incredibly divisive, so I think he would veto it over his party's recommendation. With anti-French sentiment strong in the late-1790s without the albatross of the Alien and Sedition Acts hanging around their necks, Adams or another successor would be able to rally support to win a term in 1800. Naval buildup would continue as it did under Adams IOTL, and we might see greater conflict with France with the Francophiles holding less power at the federal level.
