Was the Spanish First Republic doomed from the begining?

I think that, while the Hohenzollern posibility has been discussed several times here at alternatehistory.com, other parts of the Democratic Sextenio hasn't been treated, at least, in this site.

As the title reads, do you think that the I Spanish Republic was advocated to a soon end? (Personaly, I'd love to see how a Federal Republic would develope:))

Yes. In 1873 Spain republicans were a tiny, tiny minority. The only reason in 1873 the Republicans won was because there was 70-80% abstention meaning only Republicans voted. Beyond that, the conflicts between federalists and unitarians republicans meant that not even the republicans were united.

Without a PoD much sooner in time, a 1873 PoD means the Republic won't survive, at least not as a democracy, maybe as a dictatorship led by Serrano for quite a long time, maybe leading to a consolidation of the republic. That being said, it'd be a soft dictatorship anyway.

Yes, I agree with you. I mean, just the popular revolts and the war in Vuba and in witn the carlist made the gobernment in Madrid pretty weak and unstable to implement any reforms.

No, the problems were not just external. While they were clearly daunting, the Republican regime lacked internal cohesion and consistency not to mention legitimacy, which is why it failed at any major or meaningful reform. IIRC one of the reasons for the coup in 74 was that the Carlists were predicted to gain a plurality of seats (ofc this could be bogus), because of how tired Spaniards were of instability.
