War in Western Europe - Again - 2010 or later?

I think it because many of the regional disagreements is mainly politicians, not the people.

The only country i could really see do stupid things in the future is poland, strong nationalism and still not completely cured of irredentism. And of course its egoistic behaviour in the eu is pissing off the rest so there might lay a reason for conflict.

I have ever thinking Ucraina have much more possibility for meet a disastrous future. The voice of Putin say "We want close the play with Ucraina" is more than a simple diplomatic regulation of counts... i fear the war is can be possibile.

This is Western Europe we're supposed to be talking about.

Oh.. ^^'' hehe... sorry, I'm confused western with eastern... hehehe ^^''
Well but... is improbable a war in western europe... perhaps in south Belgium there are secessionist movements but is improbable they can ended with a war... you dont think?

Well, it is exactly this "imnpossible it coudl happen again" that I am looking at.

Admittedly, I battle with finding a hotspot hot enough. However, I somehow think that people in 1914 did not regard the sarajevo thing even a possibility. It just got a bit out of hand.

(there is an excelelnt book:13 days. containing all the cable traffic between governments, etc. Very scary)

it just seems unlikely that it will NEVER happen again.

Your whole argument here seems to be that you're ignorant of European politics during that period and you expect us to cater to that ignorance, which is a neat trick to pull after I trying to instill you with a clue. Austria-Hungary had come close with war with Serbia and Russia over Bosnia just 6 years earlier - there was nothing unlikely about Sarajevo. There is very little in common between Western Europe now and a century ago and you're fixating on the minor similarities while disregarding the major differences.

And I don't see why a book dealing with the July Crisis should be called that. It sounds more like something dealing with the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Seriously, With the level of co-operation today, the single currency, Every nation being developed democracies or constitutional monarchies, war is practiclly impossible in these days, though war is possible several DECADES later(Even that's a maybe, i say).

You'd require ASB levels of nationalism/imperialism for war in Western Europe.
