A quick update:
Sakhalin; claimed by the Empire of Japan but controlled by the Soviet Union. Before the war, the Empire of Japan had tried unsuccessfully to get the Soviet Union to relinquish Sakhalin but the communist government in Moscow steadfastly refused, claiming Sakhalin for the Soviet people. When the war broke out, the Empire of Japan saw their chance and launched a surprise invasion of Sakhalin, easily sweeping aside the Russian garrisons stationed there. With Operation Barbarossa occupying the Russians in the west, no reinforcement for the Soviet troops on Sakhalin was forthcoming and within 2 weeks, all of Sakhalin was under Japanese control. Russian resistance did not make the Japanese control of Sakhalin easy but now that they had control, the Empire of Japan was not going to let the Soviets take it from them. Within 6 weeks, the last Russian soldiers have been either captured or killed, leaving Sakhalin totally under Japanese control.
In a future post, I will try and correct the mistakes pointed out about the Chinese soldiers serving in the Imperial armed forces. I already have an idea as to how I can correct the mistakes
