War Game: South Korea vs. Japan 2004

I was using,
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japan_Air_Self-Defense_Force#Aircraft_inventory
and
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Republic_of_Korea_Air_Force#Aircraft_inventory (in service aircraft)

Not sure about discrepancy's (and the JSDAF has 4 extra tankers)

I doubt the Norks want anything to do with this, they got their own problems. The same for the Chinese I think. This war would already hurt their economy badly.
my thinking is that ROK would have to keep back more in case as its still at war with NORK technically and would risk losing more that Japan (just uninhabited islands)

overall this scenario just seems to underline the massively greater power of the defensive in northeast asia.

If slightly better and less numerous Japanese air forces would cause enogh attrition amoung korean fighters, I think the Japanese would call Kim Dzong Ill. If he is somewhat realistic he would get that this is the best thing that happened to North Korea since ... well since forever I think. For Notherners to enter the war and have some hope of winning JAF had to had at least air parity in South Korean airspace. Northerners have only thirty relatively modern fighters, and god knows how many old machines, probably in various states of readyness. Northern commanders are aware that in case of a war their forces are outdated, unless they started to believe their own propaganda.

Then again JAF seems to be made especially with air supremacy in mind, where as Korean air forces are more dispersed in purpose. So perhaps there is a chance that South Korea would be divided between Raising Sun and Red Star :D

Unlikely, if one thing can unite the two Korea's its their collective hatred of Japan. Kim Jon il may be crazy, but no one is crazy enough in North Korea to align themselves with Japan to kill their own compatriots.

I don't think it would be an open alliance, but in the moment of declaration of war between Japan and Korea, DPKR became a co-belligerent in law. Why not in action? With tacit an quiet co-operation between forces.

And this would also bring China in...
There would be quite a bit of support in many levels of society to support the Koreas against "Japanese aggression"...
And it won't just be the CCP, but also the people too...

So for Liancort attack. Looking on wiki, this seems like an absolutely useless piece of real estate military wise. Even if Japanese take it, probably by helicopter assault.. Korean can just hit it with a few cruise missiles and it will uninhabited :) Can't build air strip, has 1 helo pad. Not enough area to really hide any anti ship or AA missiles.
