They somehow win or at least don't lose the War of 1812? Maybe no War of 1812 at all? They take a bit more of Northern Mexico? Reconstruction (somehow) goes better for blacks and poor whites?

Maybe by 1900 in an ATL an American Democratic Socialist or Syndicalist movement does better? Leading to higher HDI by the turn lf the century?
