w1 us army adopts luger (9mm) in 1905

inspired by this video

but some background to get us up to speed
in 1901 the us army tested luger in 7.65mm, but declined to adopt either pistol or cartridge
in 1904 they tested the luger in 9mm, but declined in favor of a .45 cal round

but wi: the 1904 luger and the 9x19mm cartridge are both adopted in 1905 as the result of a clerical error delaying the publication of the results of the Thompson–LaGarde Tests,
10,000 units are ordered
intuitional inertia (and help from asb's)will insure that the order is filled

Or DWM feels a slight bit more confident and upscales it to 45 ACP and build enough for so would be a true test between the Colt, Savage and Luger in .45ACP rather than 2 of OTL, but 300 submitted.

NIH was not so strong yet, with the recent Krag Rifles and Benet-Mercie in the near future.

No future for 9mm, that too close to the weaker 38 Long that had been in the previous Revolver, and did not so well against the Moros.
