W/I : Imperial Germany Supports Rasputin

Rasputin_near_1914.jpg

In OTL, Germany threw arms and reichmarks behind Lenin to fund his Bolshevik movement during WWI.

What if instead they threw that same level of support behind Rasputin, asking him to stoke the flames of some ultra religious revolution. (could be something else)

It might make sense, considering how close and devisive he was to the Romanov family.

But what do you think would happen?

How plausible is this?

Could you see Rasputin the head of a Theocratic Russian Revolution?

>Man who got all of his power from Tsarina
>try into funds from teh Kaiser
>as Germany invades Russia

But seriously, Rasputin only got close to power by worming his way into the Tsar's circle. Not a revolutionary guy, and theocracies tend to be, well, reactionary. Iran is a bit different in that respect, but only in the sense that any overthrow of the current system is revolutionary.

No because Rasputin was dependent on the Tsar for his power. Asking Germany for help would have meant losing that influence. In addition Rasputin was incredibly unpopular and his attempt almost certainly would have ended with him being hanged.
