W.I.: George Wallace survives 1972 assassination attempt with minor wounds?

On May 15, 1972 in Maryland, Arthur Bremer shot Alabama Governor George Wallace, a Democratic presidential candidate, 5 times with one bullet lodging in Wallace's spine and paralyzing him from the waist down. Although Wallace won both the Maryland and Michigan primaries the next day, his 1972 campaign was over. What If Wallace had suffered only minor wounds in the assassination attempt and been able to resume campaigning within a few days?

He could win the nomination, or more likely throw it to the convention. Humphrey gets it and could beat Nixon.

If Nixon wins, Wallace could win the nomination in 1976. Either way, the nomination is the hard part. Wallace can win a landslide in the general as the Democratic nominee: South + Midwest.
