Vote for Alternate State Flags: Alabama

Which of these flags is better?

So I don't know what the interest will be like for this but over in the American Politics thread we were discussing alternate state flags because so many of the current ones are so terrible. We were able to find 5 projects that have created flags for all 50 States. I want to know what AH.com thinks of these attempts. I figured I would go in alphabetical order so... Here is Alabama. If the projects use the same flag as OTL I am not going to include it so there may not always be six options as is the case for this state whose flag doesn't completely suck.

I will try to get one of these polls up every day or couple of days... That way we can get through all 50 pretty quick but also I won't clog up the forum too badly.

Those Reunion flags ... it's a creative idea, but they fall into the same pitfall as the Bresslergroup people: flags need to have bold, timeless colors, not soft trendy low-saturation palettes that will look dated in ten years. As it is they look like emojis, not flags.

If you've never seen the Vexillology Wiki, go visit if you want to be overwhelmed. Its mission is to collect and catalog every state redesign attempt from the entire Internet. It's very thorough, maybe too much so. For a polling project like this you would have to choose from among dozens of designs per state. http://vexillology.wikia.com/wiki/Vexillology_Wiki (edit) Though I don't think the "Ammgb" Imgur album flags have been added. Neither have the Reunion flags, though they might just be too new.

That is awesome! I will probably be sinking many hours into exploring that site.

Also Turquoise mentioned that one of the sites I am using belongs to you... I just want to say nice job I like your selections!

I don't know how many other flags I will include, I might put in a couple. I'm just doing this poll for fun out of my own curiosity.

I could not agree more about the Reunion flags. They are far too washed out to actually be useful IMHO... Also I'm not sure I like postal codes as much as they do. :p

Thank you. :) Yeah, the Weebly site.is.mine. Now very few flags on there actually came from me. I did Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Utah, and West Virginia. For a few others I made small changes to other people's designs.

On the wiki I'll direct you to HansLN. He is more or less the lead admin, and on his user page he has lists of his own designs (quite good) and his favorite designs from others (also quite good). Also, keep an eye open for flags that came from AH.com, there are several of them.

I will be sure to check that out! I did notice several familiar usernames when I was checking out the wiki, it honestly makes me wonder how I've been over here for so long without having discovered it already.

One of my proudest Internet moments was when I first found the site and saw a category of flags I had designed years before. :D:cool:
