Since the late 80es, Milosovic cracked down on Kosovo's and Vojvodina's autonomy within the Serbian Republic in Yugoslavia. The status of autonomy was revoked in both cases, the violence in the case of the crackdown of the economically very poor Kosovo was worse, ten years later the war escalated which led to independence in 2008. But also the Vojvodina clampdown of Serbian nationalists had been brutal, with threats and hateful propaganda against all the other minorities in the multiethnic Vojvodina. There lived a significant numbers of Hungarians and Slovakians for examole and other ethnic groups . Many Hungarians fled to Hungary. Even the Yogoslavian Conmunist hardliners didn't approve Serbian Nationalists targeting the Vojvodina's people. Milosovic claimed that ethnic Serbs were as badly treated as in Kosovo, although the Serbs made up 54 percent of the autonomous Republic. When Serbians from the battled Serbian enclave in Croatia fled to the Serbian Vojvodina, minorities were further threatened and driven out of their homes. What if the Yugoslav wars became worser with armed combat in the Vojvodina ? How would Hungary for example react? What would the NATO , UN and the European Comnunity say ? How would the Yugoslav wars be altered with an additional conflict ? How would the alliances be ?
