Vladimir

What if Vladimir Lenin had lived a little longer. Say 5-10 years longer? Would it have had an impact on Stalin becoming the successor and what would Lenin might have done more?

One obvious thing is that had he lived longer his plans to denounce Stalin and announce a task force against corruption in the beauracracy led by himself and Trotsky would happen. So it would totally change soviet history in very big ways.

Lenin had already let the fox into the hen's coop. Stalin would find a way to assassinate him.

And I would say that this is deeply overestimating Stalin at the start of his true rise to power. Not least because he doesn't know Lenin is plotting his expulsion from the party at the next party conference. And once that happens, he's lost. Even the people he's convinced to be on his side will turn on him if Lenin turns on him.
