Odd how every year from 2010 to 2100 is a "period of increased (social) unrest and criminal activity." Looks like society is gonna break down.

Well, if worst comes to worst, I'll just move to Manitoba and set up a steam-powered farm. You know, get a few converts, teach my children about "traditional values", play with EMP-generating weapons...

Well, I'm thinking about making preperations for peak oil in 2012. Might stockpile some food and read up on appropriate technology.

Peak oil isn't the oil running out its just that currently economic sources will start peaking and slowly producing less and less oil. We'll see currently nonprofitable and nonconventional sources of oil. ITs only because that saudi/arab oil is much cheaper that we don't use US oil. We call a field tappedo ut here when 1/5 to 1/3 of the oil is taken out of it.

Okay, so - as current oil supplies dimish, prices will rise, making new ones profitable enough to be accessed? Thus, doom will be delayed, hopefully giving us enough time to develop alternatives.

one thing NO ONE mentions is that we NEED oil otherwise we'll be screwed expecially when it comes to anything made of plastics...so we'd have to find another way of making it or come up with something to replace it. but regradless of what we use as a fuel source it's going to involve plastics in the making of the vechile someway and we're going to still need oil
