After finishing Bragation at the outskirts of Varsovia, in mid august, the soviets took 5 months to build up for their final offensive against Germany at that part of the front. That offensive went as good as expected, reaching the oder in 2 weeks, an expending 2 months cleaning methodically the flanks before final push towards Berlin, probably in a safe but not totally necessary way. In any case it doesn’t seem to have been a close run thing…¿ maybe a 4 month build up would have sufficed ??- I am not known in logistics and the specific build up, weather issues, political interest of Stalin to advance in central Europe before going for berlin etc so maybe January was in any event the earliest possible; but if not, what if the soviets launch it mid December, just before Hitler goes for his ardeness final stroke? Is Hitler going to cancel the whole thing seeing the red army chopping a big hole in the east front and run wild towards the oder, sending the otl forces of wacht am rehin to close the gap, or is he going to sttubornly get fixed in his offensive? What would be the consequences of any of his options in this scenario, any significant change regarding the finishing of the war, or move the meeting line of the allies in Germany?
