I know that there is a thread about keeping Vinland settled, but I did not like the logic this discussion was taking.

So. How about Vinland that stays settled, where success of Vinland settlement is NOT triggered by any deviation from OTL history, but where the success is the single POD?

Furthermore, the "butterfly net" prevents random changes in the history of world elsewhere unless and until caused by a significant causal effects from inside the net.

However, the butterfly net never shrinks - once altered, the OTL history of a region is significant for insight as to what the general circumstances were and what might happen, but the events no longer have to happen just because they happened in the same manner in OTL.

The original PoD is that, because a few individuals happen to make smarter decisions just because or because persons with different background and experience wind up on the spot, a Viking settlement in L´Anse aux Meadows area in 1010s succeeds in surviving. The neighbouring Beothuk are low population density hunter-gatherers, so that a few tens of intitial Norse settlers are confronted by a band of a few tens of Skraelings in an immediate area. They are far outnumbered by larger Beothuk population but these scattered bands do not ally against invaders. A group of farmers needs only a relatively small area for sustenance, so a large coalition would need to shed a lot of blood to reclaim a small and low value piece of hunting grounds. The Norse pioneers judiciously combine violence with appeasement and divide and rule. After all, the Norse in Northern Norway managed peaceful coexistence with neighbouring Sami hunter-gatherers for centuries, so suppose that a Norse first settler of Vinland has the intelligence and the experience to work out something similar.
