Vietnam Without A Ho Chi Minh!

Uncle Ho apparently travelled a bit in Europe in his younger days. This included by all accounts working as a kitchen porter/waiter in Jumelles, a now long gone restaurant in Dublin. What if he was never a factor in indo-china, maybe by staying on in Dublin, does this affect the Japanese, French, American and Vietnamese?

You get someone to lead the independence movement who is more orientated towards Maoism. Also, can't forget that Uncle Ho helped the Communists in the Chinese Civil War. If his presence is butterflied away, it could have implications for China (maybe not major, the Communists had the momentum to win). Let's not forget that he was influential in the development of guerrilla warfare from that experience in China so without someone that can offer that to Vietnamese nationalists, it will be detrimental to the movement.

Basically, I see a prolonged Vietnamese War of Independence ending out with a weaker Communist movement or stronger "South".

So vast changes then! Maybe he might have influenced Ireland politically, if he had stayed here!

Perhaps, if he was a Communist at the time. He played a role in France's communist movement as far as I can tell, if he decided to play a role in Ireland, there just might be implications for the IRA (unlikely I think).

I don't think you could really stop him from going back to Vietnam unless he was detained, disabled, or killed.

But I don't really expect that to make much change in the whole scheme of things. Someone else would take his place at the front of the movement.
