Victorian-era Great War/WWI

All I can say is this is springtime for the Ottoman Empire. They will absolutely not get involved and take advantage of this to seriously consolidate their position.

There is no Germany, BTW - the Civil War is before unification. If France gets involved in the US Civil War, she's going to be awfully vulnerable...

Well Austria and Prussia will shortly be involved in their own contest of wills within the Confederation, so their position is likely moot, it also makes French intervention there even less likely if they choose to act in the ACW. I thought it was generally France and Britain that supported the Confederacy, for differing regions and with differing degrees of enthusiasm. Russia of course favoured the north. The others don't really matter as they have their own concerns, but if they did they are probably more likely to pursue aneutral course, as they are watching each other....or they pursue a common purpose for the entire bund, and I don't think they are likely to come to a common decision given the nature of the bund.

Russia can only help with naval interdiction, and even that is not much. The British can counter them very effectively.

Unless there's a continental war to be fought, Russia cannot play to its strengths if both Britain and the French get involved on the opposing side. That said, what's Austria doing?

Hmmm, 1 of my most recent thoughts related to such a POD- WI there was some sort of European colonial war fought in Victorian times in different parts of Africa ? Like say the Brits vs Germans over SW Africa as part of a protracted Boer War ?

Germany at this time could be taken to mean the German Confederation. If they see it as beneficial, Prussia and Austria will work together in a conflict. They did against Denmark- twice; one of which was around the same time. So, maybe have Denmark support the CSA too for added insult to injury.
