Just hit f12 and type neville.

The AI is so stubborn, sometimes you just have to do it to preserve a historical out come.

My keyboard has an office button.... you have to press it and then f12 to open the console on my computer.

No, I know how to cheat, I do it constantly.

The problem is that the "neville" cheat is unrecognized, while the others work perfectly.

I used to cheat -- usually do with most games, in order to see everything there is to see. Then I'll go back and play an unaltered game. Victoria is surprisingly easy without cheats if you play as a major nation -- you simply have to take it slow.

The problem is that the "neville" cheat is unrecognized, while the others work perfectly.

That is strange cheats normally work unless you type them in wrong. Went to my current game hit F12 typed "Neville" it worked, typed "neville" it worked, typed "cheat neville" it did not work. I think that you are doing something wrong in entering this cheat, if you misspell a word in F12 it will not work. Make sure you are typing in the proper code word,if you still get errors go to the Paradox Forums and post a cry for help,Paradox's design people are on quite often and may be able to help.
Had a thought are you using a mod like Victoria Improvement Project? It may have short-circuted the neville cheat.

What patch version? It didn't work till I patched my 1.00 version to 1.03 (skipped the other patches, so I don't know)

Just went thru the Paradox forum looking to see if that could be his problem and drew a blank. I did find out that 1.01 did solve several probs of this kind.
