I've read this month on a french magazine about new evidence of contacts btw Senior Vichy commanders and Alam Brooke that refered to the French asking if the Brits would help them rise 8 divisions to attack the germans on the event of a allied landing in France in 1942. Alam Brooke specifically forbade is people from letting Churchill hear of it. The author of the article makes the point the Alam Brooke was afraid that the PM would use that contact to push him to agree with the US backed idea if a landing in 1942.
Would the old bulldog really go that way? Anyone has more "intel" on this matter?
