Viable Landlocked North African States?

Are there any such states?

I was thinking how the decolonization process could be screwed up more than OTL and got an idea that some colonial powers might want to shed the African interior, but keep the coasts. Are there any good candidates for that sort of post-colonial rump state?

What do you mean "viable"?

For example, while the Algerian population is concentrated in the strip of their country near the coast, that strip is actually quite deep. If the French only held on to the very coast, maybe going as far in as Constantine, the corresponding rump state would still have a population containing well over half of the population of all of modern Algeria.

Such a state, however, would have to rely on trusting the French for access to the sea and shipping. It would also lose a fairly large portion of its industry, though it should be relatively okay food-wise (depending one how much of the coast the French keep and how many Algerians they kick out of it)

A different (maybe, more gradual) decolonization process in French West Africa could result in the creation of a Tuareg state:

Such a state could become some sort of North African and less fundamentalist version of Saudi Arabia, given the low population and high amount of oil.
