Venezuela crisis 1895 goes hot?

What if Grover Cleveland's interpretation of the Monroe Doctrine, in the border dispute between British Guiana and Venezuela led to the U.S declaring war on the British. How would this war unfold? Who would come out on top?

Because if not, presumably they are as realistic about the global balance and correlation of forces as they were historically, and, for that matter, as was Salisbury.

Whatever the British gained from a however many square miles of jungle were in dispute hardly seems worth the balance of US-UK trade, mutual investment, and the minor realities of the positive relationship between the US, UK, and Canada (much less the BWI) after the rapprochement of the 1870s.

There's a reason the Alabama claims were settled, after all.
