Originally King Johan III Vasa of Sweden wanted to marry his sister, Elisabet (OTL Duchess of Mecklenburg-whatever) to an Italian prince, and even sent envoys to sound out the possibility of her marrying either Francesco I of Tuscany, or Alfonso II of Ferrara. Elisabet, with support from her sister Sofia and brother Carl, refused point-blank.

Johan was also planning to dower Elisabet with lands/estates/titles his wife had inherited from her mother, Bona Sforza (IDK how legal this was, since I should imagine the heirs would've been Zygmunt, then his heirs, and Johan's kids by his first marriage). What if he had managed to get Elisabet/his daughter(s) (Isabella (b. 1562) or Anna (b. 1563)) to marry into the Italian royalty?
