Walther proposed a perhydrol submersible in 1934 to the German Navy who promptly rejected it. Doenitz helped with funding in 1937, by 1939 we have a submersible doing 28 knots underwater with *lots* of kinks to work out. Had Walther gotten funding in 1934 and a working prototype in 1936, what impact does this have on German subs? Will the long-range Walther submarine that eventually became the Type XXI come online two years earlier, and if so, what of the Type XXVI follow-up? Or does it become another boondoggle of wasted resources for a spectacular failure?
