Both ships are in January of 1942 configuration

Round 1:
Battle take place in the North Atlantic, both ships are at battle stations after either detection with radar or visual contact. Weather and sea conditions are calm.

Round 2:
Richmond is backed up by the USS Northampton, Koln has the Prinz Eugen. Both heavy cruisers are in January 1942 condition. Weather and sea condition are same as round 1.

I chose the Richmond (Omaha class) over say a Brooklyn simply because i figured the Brooklyn class will beat the hell out of a Konigsberg class cruiser.

Edit Apparently karlsrhue was sunk by 1942, therefore lets use Koln as the ship for this scenario.

Karlshrue is under water, scuttled following submarine attack, 9 April 1940?

This is a case of eggshells armed with hammers. He who hits first wins.
Yes I agree it would be 55% v 45% not 1 v 0, if they are both above water. Cl 9 is older and with 1/2 of its hammers in casements not sure if that matters depending on the engagement range & angles?

I'd give the edge to Richmond against any KMS CL as she was able to put an IJN heavy cruiser out of the battle line at the Battle of the Komandorski Islands.

And weren't the casement guns (at least the lower ones) pretty doubtful use in any kind of rough seas? On the other hand, the Omaha's seemed to be pretty sturdy ships.

My bad, i should have read up on which Konigberg class ship survived till the end. For this scenario lets use Koln then instead of Karlshrue.
