In reality, the USS Indianapolis (CA-35) was sunk with great loss of life after delivering crucial components of the Little Boy atomic bomb to Tinian. However, what if the Indianapolis had been sunk a few days earlier, before arriving at Tinian? Obviously, this would have resulted in the loss of the atom bomb components, so Japan only gets hit by one bomb at first. Would they still have surrendered on time (considering August Storm happened at roughly the same time)? What other effects would this have?
