USS Indianapolis Sunk En Route to Tinian

In reality, the USS Indianapolis (CA-35) was sunk with great loss of life after delivering crucial components of the Little Boy atomic bomb to Tinian. However, what if the Indianapolis had been sunk a few days earlier, before arriving at Tinian? Obviously, this would have resulted in the loss of the atom bomb components, so Japan only gets hit by one bomb at first. Would they still have surrendered on time (considering August Storm happened at roughly the same time)? What other effects would this have?

Tough one. It is a matter of days, but the question is how many.

There is also the question of how soon another Plutonium bomb could have arrived complete. I understand there were casings/detonators for several more on Tinian or the US. Plutonium was accumulating at the Haniford breeder reactors, tho I dont know how much, and how much had been shaped as bomb components. Probablly another would be ready in September, but I'm not 100%.

What was the supply of uranium at the time? Was there enough for a second shotgun bomb?

AFAIK, the plutonium design was ready & only needed to be assembled; that would have been sped up.
