When WW2 ended, the western allies had pushed many miles east of the postwar boundaries agreed upon with Russia. Ultimately, they pulled back, and Stalin would grant them part of Berlin. But what if they did not pull back, as Winston Churchill suggested, how would this have changed history? The cold war could have started earlier, and the allies almost certainly would not have received west berlin. Does anyone know of significant people (scientists, leaders, activists, etc.)who were from west berlin or the areas that the western allies took, who would have taken different sides in the cold war?
