this is a DBWI, the USA (or something like it) has a Parliament and it's election time

the parties:

The Democrats : a southern party much like the GOP 2008-2009
The Republicans : a liberal non-Progressive party, pro-big business, Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins GOP
The Progressives: a TR Progressive party, Truman Democrats
The Socialists: main-line Social Democrats, like most European ones in OTL, some what smaller and more spread out then the "Big 3"

Minor parties:
Farmer-Labor Party: a Christian Socialists, left wing on fiscal issues, right wing on Social issues, has a near lock on Minnesota
The Communists: a lot like most European Communist parties a lot of talk about "revolution" always pick up between 10-20 seats
the Green: like most Green parties, they some times pick up a seat or two

so fill in the map as you see fit.

(put this in after 2009 because thats the year of the vote and i have no POD in mind)

Doesn't this belong more in the Sandbox or something?

As for a parlimentarian US, you are correct according to the Constitution if a single contender for POTUS doesn't get a majority of the electoral college, it goes to the House.

In essence if you have three/four major parties, that would make us a Parlimentarian democracy. Wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if you ask me.

Im going to vote Democratic, but my district, SC- 2 will be a tossup between the Progressives and the Socialists, my district is usually a Green stronghold (one of the few ones), but that bastard Clyburn really screwed up.

Two things:

1) That's an outdated map; the states have since been redistricted due to the results of the 2000 census

2) According to your map, Texas apparently ceded El Paso to Mexico or something...

My district is probably going to re-elect our incumbent Democratic representative, but that doesn't mean I'll be voting for him.

I'll probably vote Progressive as per usual, unless the Socialists run a candidate who can actually win a seat here, but the chance of that is slim to none. The last time the Socialists held KY-1 was, well, come to think of it, never, though the Populists had it in the early 1900s before the Progressives came along. /:

Well given I live in the Bronx, it's a fairly safe Socialist seat here, so I'll probably vote Communist, to send a message to our MP to keep on course, unless it looks like the Progressives could take it (which last happened in the early eighties after a strong showing by Fulani for the Commies), in which case I'll vote Socialist.

Although sometimes I wonder why I bother given their willingness to back the Progressives with very few demands...

OOC: I'm assuming FPTP is in use?
