Suppose things break right, the US is able to take New Orleans in the Quasi-War with people anxious for such an invasion against France's ally, and Spain thus can't be forced to give Louisiana to France; in fact the US is willing to pay some money for the rest of Louisiana instead. Could this cause a disgruntled Spainto say "forget the French, allying with them is nothing but trouble" and leave the alliance? Would Napoleon invade Spain earlier then?
In some ways I can see where Britain might really enjoy this because they could try to use it diplomatically to try to convince the Spanishof this, thus hurting the French by denying them an ally, convincing the spanish t leave.
