In a scenario where Watergate did not happen and Nixon picked Edward Brooke both as his VP and successor, who would Brooke chose as his running mate?
I honestly don't know. There is of course the rather large question of whether he could win the nomination or if he did then the election, the Vice Presidency would already be a rather large step, I'm not sure if the US was ready to vote for a black Presidential candidate in the 1970s. If it looked unlikely Brooke himself might well decide to stop at the second highest office in the land.
