Driftless above is right that investing in road tank transporters would render Britain's tank strategies and design far more flexible but we must not equate 1930's roads with todays. In any theatre the number of routes that laden tank transporters can take are remarkably limited, especially without special preparation by Royal Engineers etc. Even in southern England.
IMHO the failure of the Experimental Mechanised Force was not it's disbandment. That was inevitable with the budget and 10 years rule. It was the failure to keep and later apply the lessons hard won from it.
