US Logistics in the Barbary Wars

Hello,
I was thinking about the Barbary Wars for some reason, and I started to wonder about something I hadn't thought of before: how did the US manage logistics during the Barbary Wars? US ships obviously had to operate out of some port, so my question is, where did they usually operate out of, restock their supplies, etc?

The US Mediterranean Squadron of the time initially used Gibraltar as a base, but after some tension with the local British authorities, they shifted to using Malta (where the British authorities were more accommodating) & Syracuse as bases.

Supplies were either shipped from the US in storeships or warships being rotated into the squadron, or purchased locally, depending on what they were.

I read "The Pirate Coast" by Richard Zacks, and he specifically mentions supply ships.
