US in a France never Falls 1940 - TL

Given that the german armies would still be inside France, Holland has fallen, and Belgium at best is partially occupied, fallen at worst, I dont see the US returning to its pre-war position.
Japan is still a growing thorn in the far east.

Probably no great change in 1940-1. The US will build up its strength 'just in case' - the isolationisns werent opposed to this, it was foreign intervention they were opposed to, and US production will still flow across the Atlantic - if nbothing else because this time its paid for.

I dont see why France hanging on makes Roosevelt decide not to stand?? Surely hed be MORE likely to, in order to be there to support the fight against Germany, and if necessary step in as in 1917 if he could swing it.

Italy is interesting. I centainly see they staying neutral in 1940, however in OTL they expected to be ready in 42...I wonder if at some point a German success would push them into trying for a quick win? Or if theyd just get bogged down in the Balkans again?
