How about a scenario in which the US gets involved in the Napoleonic Wars by siding with France. Basically we can have this start with Francophiles like Thomas Jefferson having his way and the US does not ratify the Jay Treaty with England. During the French Revolution there was actually alot of Americans that was sympathetic to France especially during the War of 1st Coalition. The American revolution was still fresh in everyone's mind and France was more popular in America than England. When the Jay treaty was passed, a mob of angry Americans carrying the French tricolors protested the decision. Anyway no Jay treaty no Quasi War. Washington orders American privateers to raid British ships in 1794.
I don't know if America is strong enough to send American troops to France to help fight against Austria and Prussia especially with the British navy on the prowl. However do you think it would be feasible? How would it be achieved? In OTL 1792 the French had defeated the Austro-Prussian army and driven it out of France and by 1794 France had occupied all of Belgium and the Rhineland. The French army of Itay led by an obscure young Brigadier General named Napoleon had pretty much expelled the Austrians and forced them to sign the Treaty of Campo formio in 1797.
The french government orders Napoleon to Egypt where he gets stranded for awhile when the Brit navy destroyed the French fleet. This is where we depart from history. Let's say the US Navy manages to elude the Brits and bolsters Napoleon's army in Egypt with US Marines. The US returns Napleon to France where he siezes control of the government just like in OTL, only this time there are US troops with him and will stay with the Grand Army throughout the Napoleonic Wars. Would a US involvement in the Napoleonic Wars change the course of history?
Feel free to make this more feasible and comment.
