US/Canada in some version of the EU

What if the USA and Canada became connected in a way similar to the European Union today with the rest of the EU? Is this feasible? If not, why not? It will probably not be the European Union, but the Western Union or something like that.

Canada will be threatened by America's cultural imperialism. Anyway, America's population advantage would basically mean they'd be in charge.

The US is fundamentally incapable of multilateralism. Canada, maybe? But the problem is that the EU was founded specifically as a continental grouping, in opposition both to the US and to Britain's Imperial Preference. Letting in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand was never a possibility.

Any North American continental Union would be as dominated by the US as Germany was by Prussia.

NAFTA was a tough enough sell for both countries, an EU-esque organization? Have fun. Unless all of Europe goes communist or some such.

A Pan-American Union (including much/all of South America) would less of a 'Greater United States', but be even harder to pull off politically.
