United States policies and politics without the Civil War

What does Pres. Abraham Lincoln do in America if the Civil War did not happen does he even win a second term.

Everything is the same up until no southern states succeed from the union instead they just resolve to defeat the upstart Republicans politically

than Democrats held a majority in the Senate and the Republicans in the Congress with 113 seats to the Democrats 82 I don't know how many other parties voted with the Democrats but it would be a slim majority for the Republicans

Abraham Lincoln would have to play politics more than Commander-in-Chief I am wondering how he would handle it we all know he was a great wartime president how would he do in a peacetime situation would he needed to be a good mediator as president

Here's a link to the 36 Congress right before the states started leaving the union http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/36th_United_States_Congress

And what would the policies and politics in the United States look like by 1900

What do you mean by "does not happen"? Also, when and how is it avoided?

You'll need to answer these questions before any meaningful discussion can be had concerning an alternate Lincoln presidency (and beyond). There is also the additional question of, would Lincoln be the GOP nominee, and, if so, would he be elected President in 1860 in this altered situation?
