United Kingdom goes communist in 1935.

POD: A series of natural disasters strike the heart of London, causing the breakdown of trade and civil unrest begins. As PM Stanley Baldwin and the rest of the British government attempt to restore order, more of these disasters occur throughout Scotland, Wales, and England, making these attempts subsequently fail. A group of armed soldiers then assassinate George V and Stanley Baldwin, along with several other key MPs. A communist revolutionary then gains popular support, and together with other military officials and recent recruits, takes over British Parliament, declaring himself to be the "Interim Leader of the United Kingdom." He and his puppet government soon declare him to be the perfect ruler and he is named "Supreme Leader of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. This government establishes strong relations with the Soviet Union, and a few years later agrees to execute an invasion of France, while Germany and the Soviet Union invade Poland. What do you think would happen from this point on? Also, if you wish, feel free to go earlier on in my story and predict from that point.

Yep, you've definitely opened up a can of worms. I doubt that the Empire is going to recognize the authority of a revolutionary Communist government in Britain.

King Edward VIII, minus Mrs. Simpson, who dumps him faster then a [...], and the royal family escape to Canada and establish a government in exile there.

BTW, here's the true flag after the revolution:D:

Hammer and sicel?
I'd like to think something more British would be used. Especially this early on. A tractor and piston or some such.

The fall of Great Britian & Northern Ireland to communism doesn't automatically = the fall of the whole British Empire to communism.
It 99.9999% likely doesn't.
British empire != UK.
The majority of the empire would likely become the Canadian empire instead with maybe India going independant.

It probably would still call itself the "British Empire". However, with the administration at home and the supposed "true" empire cut off from eachother, wouldn't the empire weaken without that "Imperial HQ" as its base infrastructure?

To me, the British empire would topple sooner with the governmental system weakened by a total loss of Britain.

As I said the India would probally go independant. It was already in talks about such in '35 anyway.

The rest of the empire though....well this is obviously a very different world than ours is Britain has gone all soviet. Assuming massive ASBs keeping everything else as it is though it should survive to a similar time as OTL.
The myth of the British Empire being a monolithic block ruled from London is just quite untrue. All there was in London was a few offices which are easily relocated to Canada. The majority of imperial government came from the colonies themselves.

Parts of the empire that are directly ruled by Britain and which have British government officials or military may well go under Communist influence, at least so far as the civil service/military remain loyal to Britain, rather than their political leanings.

However places like India that have large indigenous armies/civil service/ anti Communist British officials may well try for a decisive break and if Communist Britain is in economic/civil turmoil for a bit then this may be succesful.

The Dominions are unlikely to go Communist without active intervention from a Communist UK, and since they are far away and usually ungarrisoned in any sense that would be rather unlikely.
