United Africas Horn under the ethiopian monarchy after WW2?

I read that in the mid 40s the ethipian emperor demanded italian somaliland tough the british appeased him with only the ogaden and confederation with eritrea (that he later annexed), so in an escenario where the empire manages to control the whole horn (this ist a PC, tough how they manage that is important to the outcomes, feel free to change whatever you need to make this believable) what whole be the concequences in the second half of the century? Now that all somalid are under one state, could they later seceded as a united Somalia? How will the amharas keep control in an Ethiopia where they are an even smaller minority? Collapse and yugoslavification of the horn? Earlier federalization of Ethiopia (or Horn Federation)?

This is pretty difficult to achieve, simply because it is more than obvious that yugoslavification is an inevitability if you give Ethiopia all of the Horn. It could barely hold onto Eritrea, and Somalia can't even keep itself together today. So yes, the Horn of Africa's going to implode if you place it all under Addis Ababa's boot.

Agre, but the question is more about the when and how and the posible outcomes. There are many ways and shapes to break a country ;).

Ethiopia would probably collapse and balkanize if she attempted to actually annex the entire Horn of Africa in the aftermath of World War 2 - if you want Ethiopia to annex the Horn and remain intact, then you'd need a pre-1900 POD.

Also, by federalization, are you referring to the establishment of an Ethiopian Federation along ethnic lines like in OTL's modern-day Ethiopia?

I agree, but how and into wicht states will Ethipia balcanize?
And yes, I mean like modern day Ethiopia or other ways, there are many ways to build ethnic or plurinacional federalism.

It might balkanize along ethnic lines, roughly similar to the divisions you see nowadays.

I doubt the Ethiopian Monarchy would ever accept any ethnic-based federal system but a Federation akin to OTL's with Eritrea prior to unilateral annexation MIGHT work but I doubt even that.

How about a multi-state federation with Ethiopia as dominant but able to be blocked when the three minor states combine forces with the Emperor as common Head of State? Sort of a Commonwealth in miniature maybe?

Can you elaborate on what you mean here? I'm not sure if I understand.

At the end of World War II there was Djibouti, Somalia, and Somaliland on the Horn of Africa in addition to Eritrea. Is it plausible to unite them in such a way as to have a common Head of State in the Ethiopian Emperor but have a legislature where the other three states could overrule Ethiopian law/proposals if they stand united as a check on Addis Abba?

What makes it so that the Emperor/Addis Ababa government don't simply play on divisions between these new states in Ethiopia and positions himself as the final arbiter?
