Unified Scandinavia in the 8th century

Okay, so I don't know if this is total ASB but:

One of the first things you learn about the "vikings" is that they weren't a single unified force and yadda yadda yadda. But what if they had been? What if a single ruler had managed to conquer and unify most of Scandinavia (atleast Denmark and souther Norway and Sweden) before to the the start of what we consider the "viking era" (mid to late 8th century).

How would the nature of Viking raids have changed? Would they be more organized and aimed for conquest? Would there even had been viking raids as we know them today?

Little is of course known of this era in Scandinavian history, we don't know a lot of specific kings and a lot of what we know is probably myths, so no clear answer can be given. But then again no alt history has a clear answer.

I think that the Kingdom will eventually splinter, but the precedent set might still have an impact.
An interesting notion. If even the idea of a once unified kingdom of Scandinavian peoples is there in the collective minds of the Scandinavian nations, it could lead to more of an acceptance of that notion later on down the line and maybe have them look at themselves as sibling nations, not just foreigners with a similar language. Could even lead to a unified Scandinavian language where OTL Danish, Swedish, Norwegian, et al, are seen more as dialects or regional languages than national languages.
