Uncolonized Philippines

I was think if the Philippines is not Colonized by Spain this will happen:

*Luzon is divided between an Indigenous Sultanate and the Bruneians the indigenous sultanate allies with the enemies of Brunei.
*The Japan-Malay trade that passes via Luzon continues.
*Butuan and Maguindanao would have territorial conflicts in Mindanao.
*Sulu remains under Brunei.

*Our problem is how would the visayan states would fare if they are surrounded by muslim states?

*Luzon is divided between the puppets of Demak/Mataram/Aceh(for the northern part) and Brunei(the southern part) similar to italy, two states similar to Goguryeo and Silla in Korea.
Honestly you seem to have a very idiosyncratic understanding of Filipino history. Demak, Mataram, and Aceh had absolutely no geopolitical interests in the Philippines whatsoever.

Maybe in 1590s japan sends expeditions to subjugate the islands, if they did it would most likely be succesful in colonizing at least luzon.

No, Japan does not have any reason to conquer them, the problem is how long the bruneian dominance stays.

the only people who would want to interfere in Luzon are the people interested in the trade flow from the malay archipelago to Japan and China such as Majapahit and Brunei before the POD.

My bad if the wikipedia is wrong, i havent done much research on this but citing this book https://books.google.co.uk/books?id=kbWv-pZy5H0C&pg=PA1&redir_esc=y#v=onepage&q&f=false
it says that japanese regent Toyotomi hideoyoshi attempted to establish japanese suzerainty over the phillippines.

considering this was the same guy that invaded korea and attempted to invade taiwan in 1592, it's not ridiculous to think he might invade the phillippines if no european power was protecting it.

But the Spanish not coming to the Philippiness would butterfly Hideyoshi.

You said that japan had no reason to conquer the phillippines, it woulden't have to be Hideyoshi just some japanese ruler with an eye to expand southwards.

I'm not saying this is inevitable without spain, only that its an option like conquest by any other power.

Actually Brunei are turning luzon into muslim due to their conquest of tondo at that point and without the spanish the coastal areas are muslim by 17th century.

The Bruneians might tighten their influence..

If the Philippines were not colonized by Spain, we would have remained a backwater province of the Malay world.

In the meanwhile, Spain probably ends up in Formosa instead, and uses the island to trade with China and Japan. The changes here might mean a more Christianized Japan, or at least a Japan that is stable enough to go on adventures, and that could lead to alt-red seal ships everywhere and a Japanese maritime empire, probably managed by one of the Kyushu daimyos under the scrutiny of, say, an Oda shogunate or kingdom (not sure if the imperial court would survive a conversion to Christianity: they'd be as useful as the late Merovingians). And then you'd have the possibility of Japan colonizing the Philippines.

Tell me about it. :p

Brunei wouldn't be in a position to resist Japanese invasion, considering 400 spaniards and two thousand auxiliaries were able to take their capital in 1578. It would just depend if Japan was willing to spend troops on fighting them.

Yes, but japan expanded due to christian influence but the situation the op is talking about would butterfly the otl situation of japan at this point.

Demak and Aceh would only have interests in Luzon or ITTL Saludong if one of them are recognized as the undisputed successor of Majapahit due to it being part of Majapahit or strong enough to do so.

However, the relationship would be similar to that of the Belarusian principalities with Lithuania.
