Uncle Walt in Metropolis.

What if the DC comics, with the rights of his characters for movies and television, had been purchased by the Walt Disney Company..we said in 90s?
The DCU would have been less dark and more on the light side, and characters as Superman would have a more classic formulation?

You need a POD sometime in the 60's or 70's, because the Kinney National had owned DC since 1967, and Kinney eventually evolved into Warner Communications and later Time-Warner. I suppose you could have Kinney not buy Warner Bros, and maybe buy a stake in the struggling Walt Disney Corporation instead. Or, (and this was a plan I had (or still might have, if I decide to still go with it)) Have Disney in the 70's simply buy out DC Comics, as a "Family-friendly" comic company.

Are you asking is Superman would have been given a more classical backstory?

Yes,a more conservative and classical take on the character.

But Disney have bought Marvel comics.

Anyway my question is on the possibility that the Disney property of DC comics (a POD from 70s is a good idea) avoid the "dark" and grim setting for Superman and other DC comics characters, and keep then on the bright side as in silver/bronze age.

Marvel had been independent since forever. DC has been part of a massive media conglomerate like Disney, in their case Warners, for decades. Not to mention, the 70s were when Disney was just starting its transformation from "film studio" to "media conglomerate".

Disney bought Marvel in 2009. In the 70's, Marvel was owned by Cadence Industries. It is entirely possible that Disney could buy DC from Kinney.

As for your second idea, it really depends on market forces. If the market asks for darker stories, than, no matter who owns it, it will be darker. Sure, because of Disney, we might not get overly dark stories from DC, like Watchmen or the Dark Knight Returns, but I think that there would eventually have to be dark and grim stories.

Like I suggested, maybe Kinney could purchase stock in the Disney company in the 70's, instead of Warner Bros.
